Dr. Heather McCauley is a social epidemiologist, Associate Professor of Social Work, and co-director of SPARK Research for Social Change at Michigan State University. Dr. McCauley’s federally funded research portfolio is at the intersection of violence prevention and health equity. She has authored or co-authored more than 90 journal articles and book chapters in outlets spanning a variety of health and social science disciplines. Her work also includes the Emmy nominated docu-short, "Sparking Communities for Change: Michigan," produced by Detroit PBS. Dr. McCauley is the 2023 recipient of the MSU College of Social Science Outstanding Teaching Award for her dedication to and excellence in undergraduate education. Nationally, she serves on the editorial boards for Violence Against Women and Journal of Family Violence. She is a grant reviewer for CDC, NIJ, and NIH. Since 2013, Dr. McCauley has served on the Board of Trustees at St. Lawrence University.
